About Us

Occustar workplace compliance professional team

Occustar Workplace Compliance provides onsite firefighter examinations, DOT and transportation exams for commercial drivers, industrial medical surveillance, drug and alcohol testing, and OSHA/PESH-compliant safety training. Our priority is delivering accurate, properly documented occupational medical services while minimizing disruption to your operations.

Most services are performed at your station, facility, or workplace. This approach reduces downtime, improves participation, and eliminates the inefficiencies of sending members offsite. Firefighter examinations include pulmonary function testing, vision and hearing screening, and a hands-on medical examination appropriate for fire service demands. DOT and transportation exams support commercial-driver readiness, and industrial exams are customized for exposure-based environments.

Employers must retain applicable medical surveillance records for the duration of employment plus 30 years. Occustar provides concise, well-organized documentation that supports these long-term OSHA/PESH retention requirements. For departmental convenience, group examinations are compiled into structured binders to simplify storage, retrieval, and compliance during audits.

Drug and alcohol testing is performed in accordance with DOT Part 40 mandates for regulated employers, with expanded options for non-DOT workplaces. Collections are completed onsite or in our Buffalo office. A certified Medical Review Officer (MRO) independently reviews laboratory results to ensure unbiased and legally defensible interpretations.

Our training programs include OSHA 8-Hour Firefighter Refresher sessions, CPR/AED/First Aid courses, and other compliance-driven instruction. Training is offered onsite or through scheduled statewide sessions and is structured to match real-world operations and regulatory requirements.

Occustar’s mission is to provide practical, compliant, and efficient occupational health services for fire departments, transportation operations, municipalities, and industry—ensuring safe, reliable, and uninterrupted performance.
